obama

Hold the line!

I really don't understand the whole, "The deficit is too large, let's cut taxes!" rallying cry from the GOP... good job, Obama, on not giving in!

"President Obama on Wednesday will make clear that he opposes any compromise that would extend the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy beyond this year, officials said, adding a populist twist to an election-season economic package that is otherwise designed to entice support from big businesses and their Republican allies."

Go-Bama! Yeah for bikes!

Another reason I love Obama over Bush:

"The new focus on biking and walking represents a turnaround from the administration of President George W Bush. Mary Peters, transportation secretary under Bush, dismissed biking paths and trails as projects that "really are not transportation," saying they had no place in federal transportation policy.

Obama doesn't hate the troops

Radio and TV talker Glenn Beck (on May 25) said, "Obama is skipping out on a Memorial Day ceremony at Arlington Cemetery because he'll be in Chicago on vacation." On his show, Beck incorrectly asserted that the president "has decided not to honor our troops on Memorial Day."

Beck said, "Maybe this has happened before. I don't recall it."

"The critics were either ignorant of the facts or they failed to mention the 2007 Veterans Day ceremony when Vice President Dick Cheney spoke while President George W. Bush observed the holiday in Texas.

My first real beef w/ Obama?

What explanation is there for being so lenient on BP after the spill?  Why are we accepting the 5000 barrels/day figure?  Why are we not forcing them to do testing and monitoring, funding university scientists, and making all data publicly available?  The only reason I can see is that BP doesn't want information collected that could be used against it in court, but why is that the American People's problem?

Obama achieves tech god status?

Obama allows whitehouse to not only use open source to power whitehouse.gov, but to release their code as open source?  So. good.

Obama looking to close the deal to regulate Wall St.

"I believe in the power of the free market," Obama said in a speech at Cooper Union, not far from the New York Stock Exchange. "But a free market was never meant to be a free license to take whatever you can get, however you can get it."

Another change Obama brought

Every day I see Obama in action I find more and more reasons to be grateful Bush is gone

Taking on Obama? Good luck.

"Because all these pieces of wisdom are completely false, now is a good time to look at where the 2012 presidential race really stands. And while engaging in punditry about a contest several years off is always good fun, the exercise better serves to examine the political health of the incumbent — which is, it turns out, surprisingly robust. What has Obama accomplished?
