Google: No more windows here!

"Well, Google has taken the next step in its world domination plan, banning Microsoft Windows from internal use.

Employees will be given the choice between Apple's Mac OS and Linux.

Adding insult to injury, Google is also publicly citing Windows security problems for the decision and blaming Windows vulnerabilities for the China hacking incident.

Microsoft and other's response to a google-free China?

For some reason I don't have a whole lotta hope that microsoft will "do the right thing..."

Earlier this month, Chinese Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Yizhong told the international press that foreign Internet companies must obey Chinese laws.

Now the question is: Will Microsoft take him at his word? Will Bing comply only with those censorship requests that have a clear basis in Chinese law and which are made through a legally binding, documented and accountable process? Will it challenge them?

Windows Phone 7 better than the iPhone? Don't count on it

When windows phone 7 was demo-ed last month everyone was stepping all over themselves trying to give the most complimentary reviews, talking about how they "out-appled Apple."  People let their dreams run wild, and imagined it would fix all of the iPhones shortcomings - multitasking, app store naziism, copy-paste, etc...  As it gets closer to launch, though, they're having to meet w/ reality...

Android eating Microsoft's lunch :-D

Change in mobile operating systems over the last quarter:

Apple: Up .3%

Microsoft: Down 4%

Google Android: Up 4.3%

Microsoft’s Creative Destruction

"Microsoft has become a clumsy, uncompetitive innovator. Its products are lampooned, often unfairly but sometimes with good reason. Its image has never recovered from the antitrust prosecution of the 1990s. Its marketing has been inept for years; remember the 2008 ad in which Bill Gates was somehow persuaded to literally wiggle his behind at the camera?

More evidence of Microsoft's Evilness

I like how Balmer says the US has "extreme" free speech laws...

Balmer on China:

"Engagement in China and around the world is very important to us, in part because we believe it accelerates access to 21st century technology and services and helps provide the widest possible range of ideas and information.  We have done business in China for more than 20 years and we intend to stay engaged, which means our business must respect the laws of China. That’s true for every company doing business in countries around the world: we are all subject to local laws."

Negative Bing Cashback

These are the kinds of things that make me wonder why people think corporations and free-markets are so great...

Microsoft Linux?

I've heard of this as a joke before (and it's no closer to reality), but interesting inteview none the less...

Shouldn't a new operating system be immune to old virii?

It seems that if Microsoft was doing their jobs, they would have fixed the vulnerabilities in Vista that virus writers were using to gain access.  Why is Windows 7 still effected by these bugs?
