politics
Huh - so liberal actors aren't the only ones w/ their heads up their a**es?
First Chuck Norris, now Jon Voight??? Maybe I am on the wrong side... no, I don't think so.
"You have brought to Arizona a civil war, once again defending the criminals and illegals, creating a meltdown for good, loyal, law-abiding citizens. Your destruction of this country may never be remedied, and we may never recover. I pray to God you stop, and I hope the people in this great country realize your agenda is not for the betterment of mankind, but for the betterment of your politics."
Why is this necessary in 2010???
"In Alabama, a state PAC recently went on the air with an ad attacking one of the Republican gubernatorial candidates for supporting the teaching of evolution in schools and for saying that parts of the Bible aren't true.
Politics and Media as in Basketball?
I read this article and couldn't help but think of the complaints of media bias over the last few years...
Speech by John Ashcroft
Really interesting speech by John Ashcroft arguing against trials for detainees. I think it's amazing how people assign 100% credibility to our soldiers, and see it as near impossible that we could be wrongly holding prisoners. In the speech, he also compares our detainee program to capturing german POWs during WWII, saying that if we gave each of them a trial we'd still be having hearings because there were so many, and that this just isn't practical. I think the difference is that WWII had a defined end point after which you could release POWs, and that with all of the technology now t
What's that I hear?
The sound of the world's tiniest violin? Turns out republican lobbyists are having a heck of a time finding jobs these days, boo-hoo.
Score 1 for the environment
More good news from Washington :)
"Besides seating a committed environmentalist as head of the energy committee, the vote also removes one of the auto industry’s best friends from a key leadership post — further evidence of how much power the American car-makers, whose executives have been pleading for federal money, have lost in Congress.
"The vote on Thursday morning reportedly surprised some Dingell supporters, who had expected Mr. Dingell to prevail despite Wednesday’s 25-to-22 vote by the Democrats’ Steering and Policy Committee in favor of Mr. Waxman’s challenge.
Woohoo!!! 58, can we make 60???
It only took a conviction on a federal corruption charge to bring him down - what a crappy bday gift for him, but good for Alaska! Too bad for Palin, though, she won't get to nominate herself to fill the position Stevens would open up after getting kicked out of the Senate in January.
What is Bush doing???
Doesn't he get that he doesn't have any more "political capital" to spend?
"Firing off another decision that is angering environmental groups, the Bush administration has issued new regulations to develop oil shale deposits straddling almost two million acres of public lands in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming."

Will Obama clean this up, too?
If there are laws to regulate how law enforcement can retrieve a target's cellphone location, I'd hope that the legislators intended to regulate all means of retrieving the location, not just retrieval via cell phone company... too bad law enforcement doesn't seem to share this view.
End of stupid bans?
"The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops is warning that Obama will alienate millions, and abortion opponents are bracing for a fight. Medical researchers, meanwhile, are rejoicing at the prospect of freedom from a government policy they say has stymied efforts to develop life-saving treatments."
