Google: No more windows here!

"Well, Google has taken the next step in its world domination plan, banning Microsoft Windows from internal use.

Employees will be given the choice between Apple's Mac OS and Linux.

Adding insult to injury, Google is also publicly citing Windows security problems for the decision and blaming Windows vulnerabilities for the China hacking incident.

Google vs. China

It looks like for now, China is allowing people to access google search, just not the contents of the resulting suggested pages.  My hope is that these kinds of courageous actions can show people what they're missing, and breed resentment and change.  Stay strong, Google!

What makes google Not Evil in my book?

Something that's frustrated me with other companies and prevented me from using their products is lock-in... I don't want to spend months creating something in a software package only to find I have no way to get it out if I want to move to a competing package.  Google is the only company I'm aware of that proactively helps its customers leave whenever they want.  Yay google!

News of Google's disgust with China's censorship... censored...

Some big Chinese news portals initially carried a short dispatch on Google’s announcement, but that account soon tumbled from the headlines, and later reports omitted Google’s references to “free speech” and “surveillance.”

The only government response came later in the day from Xinhua, the official news agency, which ran a brief item quoting an anonymous official who was “seeking more information on Google’s statement that it could quit China.”

Btw, isn't it ironic that a woman named "Bing" is mourning the loss of google?  :o)
