democrats

Yeah Team Obama!

Way to go, Dems!  And good job dropping the ball yet again, GOP - how can they defend voting against financial reform???

"The Senate on Thursday passed the most sweeping regulatory overhaul of the financial system since the New Deal.

"The bill, which passed 59-39, imposes more oversight and stronger capital cushions for the largest banks and Wall Street firms, while aiming to stop bailouts, shine a light on complex financial products and strengthen consumer protection.

Heading off the next financial crisis

Long article (still reading it...), but good overview of what needs to be done... I especially like "Obama's fondness for policies based on empirical research" - for some reason I don't think that's a fondness Bush shared...

Another difference between Obama and McCain (or any other republican)

"How's that hope-y change-y thing working out for ya?"

Just fine, thanks.  Talk about leadership...

"President Obama and his Russian counterpart, President Dmitri A. Medvedev, have broken through a logjam in their arms control negotiations and expect to sign a new treaty in Prague next month that would slash American and Russian nuclear arsenals, officials from both nations said Wednesday."

Yay dems! (Cash for Clunkers)

Uh-oh... another "liberal" policy seems to have worked afterall...

"A new study concludes that last summer's government-funded "Cash For Clunkers" program didn't hurt car sales rates in future months, and in fact did just what it set out to do: get old, low-mileage cars off the road and stimulate auto sales in the U.S.

An analysis by Maritz Research refutes one of the main concerns over the Car Allowance Rebate Systems (CARS) program, usually called "Cash for Clunkers." Critics said it would simply borrow sales from future months, with no net gain in overall sales.

Why the Dems will win in November

There's been so many end-of-days proclaimations by the media and early celebrations by Republicans that it's pretty much become common knowledge that November will be a repeat of '94 and a huge turning-of-the-tides in favor of republicans.  I haven't understood that, though, as it seems like November is still a ways away, and a lot can happen before then.  With recent reports of the economy really gaining steam, Iraq continuing it's progress towards self-sustainability, and Afganistan going well, it really seems that the Dems will come out victorious, and I can't wait to see what they're ab

Dems continue attacking earmarks and GOP's big-government, wasteful ways

Funny how it seems like many republicans talk about how much they hate earmarks, but they were never able to even pass simple steps like this, banning earmarks to for-profit companies, which will eliminate no-bid contracts like those to halliburton in the past.

I so hope the Dems follow through...

"The game of chicken commenceth — right now.

In the course of unveiling Obama’s new health reform proposal on a conference call with reporters this morning, White House advisers made it clearer than ever before: If the GOP filibusters health reform, Dems will move forward on their own and pass it via reconciliation.

The assertion, which is likely to spark an angry response from GOP leaders, ups the stakes in advance of the summit by essentially daring Republicans to try to block reform.
