EECS is for GEEKS!!!

Eric's Info

Where am I now? Right now I'm living in beautiful Hampden, about 5 miles northwest of the ghetto I used to call my home. Why did I used to live in the ghetto, one might ask? I'm currently (ok, ok, permanently) a student at Johns Hopkins studying Biomedical Engineering. For the first year of our program we have the opportunity to take med school classes with the JHU Med Students. After that we get to move to a land where the birds sing, the sun shines, and the engineers are abundant... the paradise of Homewood Campus. After following Dante's footsteps and ascending from the inferno that is Med School, I began taking engineering classes and TA-ing. I've also started my research, and am working with Dr. Connor in the Mind/Brain Institute to study the primate vision system. My long-term goal is to use that knowledge to help develop visual prosthetic devices.

Ok, so that's where I am, but how'd I get here? Well, in the four years before coming to JHU I got my bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, hence the whole "EECS is for GEEKS" thing (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science). The two biggest parts of my life during that time were Phi Alpha Kappa and the U of Michigan Solar Car Team. Phi Alpha Kappa is a Christian fraternity, and was my home for my last two years at U of M. The Solar Car Team is a group of students dedicated to constructing and racing a solar powered electric vehicle in the biennial races across the US and Australia.

Well, I think that's enough about me for now. If you have a burning need to ask me a question about my past (or generally to just get in touch with me), a good way to get in touch is through Jabber (stratvio at jabber.aster.pl), AIM (stratvio), MSN (stratvio at aol.com), Yahoo Messenger (stratvio2002), ICQ (169230370), or e-mail (website at DELETETHIScarlsonhome.net).

Happy Wanderings!
